You said to me on your initial visit that the renovation would completely transform it and you were right – I’m astounded by the change. From the major work through to the minor details, you and your team have made my home truly beautiful.
It is generally known that building/renovations are usually stressful and that at times complications happen. But I can honestly say that the work done y everyone has been excellent and any problems that have arisen have been handled professionally and with utmost courtesy.
I would especially like to hank Drew for putting up with my frequent faxes/phone calls and for managing my renovations with calm professionalism and attention to detail. He is a pleasure to deal with and never made me feel an intrusion.

"We have lived in our home for nearly 9 years before we were able to find the time and money for an extension. So in order for us to begin the task of finding a builder we set ourselves the task of observing renovations in our area where we stumbled across a similar construction in a nearby street. This construction was being carried out by Walvin Constructions.
After our initial consultation with John, we felt confident that he was able to meet our needs and budget requirements as he gave us further suggestions and advice the was professional and comforting – given this was our first foray into renovations. Throughout the building of the extension we were consulted at each stage and the team who actually carried out the work was always professional, helpful and showed us that their standard of work was of the standard we had hoped for.
Since the work has been completed we discovered that our project won a Bronze in the Small Renovation category of the Builders Associations awards – but aside from that it has won acclaim with our friends and family who admire it with appreciation on their visits.

Our house had been “renovate” by every previous owner, each with a view of making it a different style, Spanish, rustic etc. As a result it was a “mishmash of potential”. We too decided to “redo the place’ but our idea was to restore it to its essence. Having been built in the late 1940’s it did have some good structural & decorative features such as plaster walls, ornate cornices, hardwood floors & lots of good windows.
The brief we gave Walvin’s was to create a larger, cleaner, more open living space on the upper level that included a front deck. To create a larger, cleaner & more accessible storage space on the lower level that included a water tank, new driveway & garage door, entry way, stairs & laundry area & if this was not enough to also add value to our property & ensure the potential for future building in under the house.
We were very please that Walvin’s shared our vision & from the first sketches I drew they presented us with drawings that reflected our desires for the house, both structurally & aesthetically.
The time they took to communicate with us prior to & during the job was excellent & we were very impressed by their carpentry skills. The finished result is wonderful, large open areas with polished floors & lots of glass, French doors, louvres etc. This has made the house a more modern functional place. The new front deck is at tree canopy level bringing the outside in yet maintaining a warm & comfortable feel. While the new dining area looks out over the back deck & pool area in a sea of greens & blues.
Finally, the house has been “restored” to its essence & maintained its architectural integrity while being truly placed into the 21st century to take advantage of our wonderful Queensland climate.
Thank you to all the team at Walvin’s for making our old home new again. It is our hope that this renovated version will satisfy future owners as is, having realised its potential, not that we are moving any time soon!!
